Do I need planning permission?
You won’t usually need planning permission if the structure is less than 15m²and contains no sleeping accommodation.
(Please note that further restrictions can apply, for example, conservation areas.)
How high can I build?
You can usually build higher than 2.5m (see local restrictions) if you build 2m from existing boundaries without planning permission.
Do I need to consult Building Control?
We always recommend that you consult the local building control department before starting a project. However, most builds comply with building regulations as they are at least 1m from the boundary line, less than 30m² and no higher than 2.5m.
